Job Description:
The purpose of this position is to assist in executing the YMCAs Shared Services Mentorship Program in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan (additional program information is available upon request). This program is offered in school settings, as well as at a YMCA program site. This position will provide specialized attention to those referred to this YMCA program and will facilitate mentorship groups throughout the week. Some evenings will be required.
Responsibilities:
This position will work 20 hours/ week, a mixture of daytime and evening hours
- Implement programming in a school and classroom setting
- Assist in creating and facilitating interactive workshops
- Building relationships and providing mentorship to young people referred to YMCA Programs
- Additional special projects or cross- departmental initiatives as needed
-Comply with all YMCA Child Protection policy and procedures, and complete all Child Protection training as required
-Communicating program successes and activities to program participants, their family, and throughout the Y network
Requirements:
- Ability to build relationships and work with youth is an asset, especially those with challenging behaviours
- Must obtain an original criminal record check dated within 3 months of hire
- Self motivated and be able to work independently or part of a small team
-Past experience and interest in working with youth
-Experience in lesson/program planning
-Demonstrate the ability to be a positive role model, mentor and authentic leader
-Good communication and interpersonal skills
-Must have updated CPR and First Aid upon start date
-Valid drivers license
-Experience working with child and youth would be considered an asset
