The Field Pest Control Supervisor is responsible for proper mechanical application of a variety of herbicides, fungicides, and insecticides, as necessary on a large grain farm. This person will work closely with the Crop Specialist, Field Manager, and CEO to provide timely application of such.
Main spray-season duties include:
> regular maintenance of spray equipment
> problem troubleshooting and repair
> using skidsteer and physical labour to handle chemical onto water trailer
> transport water trailer to and from application site
> calculate and apply proper application rate of all chemical
> make decisions as to proper weather conditions to apply chemical
> record conditions and application rates for all fields
> monitor for and notify of trouble areas within fields
> maintain chemical inventory
Main non-spray-season duties include:
> feeding and husbandry of goats
> hauling grain, fertilizer, and livestock feed with tractor-trailer units
> snow removal
Additional farm-related duties may be required.
Must be reliable, a safe and confident operator, self-motivated, with good English communication and organization skills. Mechanically inclined is an asset. Able to work independently and part of a large team.
The successful applicant must have:
> excellent English skills, both written and spoken
> excellent mathematical skills
> a valid Class 1A drivers licence
> skidsteer or other loader experience
> minimum 5 years experience working on North American-style large grain farms
> minimum 3 years of spray applicator experience
> experience with animal husbandry (goats or sheep preferred)
> be able to work at heights and in hot, dusty, and cold environments
> physically able to lift up to 50lbs and climb ladders
> pesticide applicator licence would be an asset
Vehicle available from main yard to work site.
