The City of Humboldt is currently seeking 1 seasonal, full-time skilled labourer in the Public Works and Utilities Department, with the position ending in October 2021. The employee in this position will be responsible for carrying out general duties for the City of Humboldt in a safe and effective manner.
Skilled labourers shall be able to operate the Citys basic equipment and tools; participate in water and sewer excavations; road construction and repair activities, and all other general duties assigned. Desired skills include basic carpentry, mechanical principles. Ability to work in enclosed spaces. Knowledge of safety practices and procedures. Knowledge of proper handling techniques for chemicals used in utility operations. Good decision-making abilities. Ability to remain calm during emergency situations. Ability to communicate effectively with other employees and the public. Physical ability to perform the assigned duties. Ability to work alone or with minimal supervision.
Grade 12 or General Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D.). Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Drivers Licence. Desired to have but will train for first aid certificate, confined space training, workplace hazardous materials information system (WHMIS) training, ground disturbance training and rigging. A Criminal Record Check and current drivers abstract demonstrating a safe driving record will be requested as a condition of employment. Living within 15km of Humboldt is considered an asset to respond effectively to emergency situations. Holding a class 3A drivers license is also considered an asset for driving tandem trucks when needed. $23.59 per hour (2021 Rates) CUPE Local 2359.
