Description

The City of Moose Jaw is seeking to fill a full-time Operator position which performs various duties related to the operation and maintenance of City Water and Wastewater Pump Stations and Wastewater Treatment Systems.  Some of which include:

Operate, maintain and repair all equipment at sewage pump stations, water pump stations and the wastewater treatment and disposal system
Operate electronic SCADA & PLC control systems and co-operate with specialist technicians in the maintenance and repair of electronic and radio control systems
Collect and document samples and conduct chemical analytical tests of water and wastewater
Properly maintain internal quality control standards and report all questionable test results
Routinely review test data for accuracy and regulatory compliance

Qualified candidates will have:
Passed Saskatchewan Operator Certification Board exams for Level I Wastewater Treatment, Level I Water Distribution and Level I Wastewater Collection OR
Diploma for Water Resources Engineering Technologies, Environmental Engineering Technologies or Civil Engineering Technologies OR
Water/Wastewater Technician Certificate
Operators must obtain Level II Wastewater Treatment, Level II Water Distribution and Level II Wastewater Collection Certifications, and in the absence of these, must pass Level II certification exams for all 3 certifications within 6 months of hire
Class 5 drivers license
Physical ability to safely perform all manual labour duties and pass a physical demands assessment
Able to obtain certifications for WHMIS, Transportation of Dangerous Goods, Confined Space Entry, First Aid, CPR, H2S, Fall Protection, Hoisting, Rigging and Chlorine Gas Systems
Working knowledge of computer software packages

This position requires shift work and includes after hour calls for emergency repairs and work in hazardous and confined space locations.
