Carry out critical tasks such as:
Monitoring animal diseases and implementing response and control measures
Setting international standards for animal health
Supporting the development of biotechnology and veterinary biologics
Managing import and export of animals and animal products
Ensuring meat hygiene
Responding to food recalls and emergencies
